Hope, Heart and Redemption ...
What a week it has been.
Many Blessings,Clearly the election of Barack Obama can be seen as a mandate of theAmerican people who came out in record number to cast not just their vote but a wish for the future. I just love the vision of two beautiful African American children running around with their puppy in the White House. This sort of change is what makes America great, truly a land of vision for our world. What happens in America happens in the rest of the world, and this change reflects to the entire world the truth that we are one human race, without a need for racism in our society. We have come a long way in this journey. Interesting enough I was born in the same town as Barack's father, the town of Kisumu, Kenya where his grandmother st ill lives. Kisumu is the largest port on Lake Victoria, which is the source of River Nile, one of the very few rivers that runs South to North and one which has nourished the ancient land of Egypt - the cradle of our civilization. I say it is in the water of the Nile that such brilliance has emerged! What I loved about Obama's campaign is that that he played it like a violin. The grassroots strategy was brilliant, the execution flawless. He picked the right team members who stayed with him from beginning to end and did an amazing job. His paid staff and volunteers orchestrated a historic campaign that will be studied and written about for decades. Above all, he inspired many non-voters to come out and vote, including the young people. This ability to inspire and manage is what is most needed in a President. Congratulations President Elect Barack Obama - you make us proud, and we support your leadership. It is time that we all pledge our support for our new leader irrespective of our party affiliations and other distinctions and differences in order to become one voice - one human race! I loved John McCain's concession speech in which he clearly states that he will serve his President and serve the country that he loves. Governments and Presidents do not make the changes that are needed in our society and the world. Yes, Obama has shown us hope and heart, but much work has to be done. As he said in his acceptance speech,"The road ahead will be long. Our climb will be steep. We may not get there in one year or even in one term. But, America, I have never been more hopeful than I am tonight that we will get there. I promise you, we as a people will get there." The "we" includes us. It is truly a time for Americans to get engaged in turning our country around and addressing the myriad of challenges that face us. One thing I love about America is it is a resilient country - we have persevered many challenges in the past and have always come through winners and stronger. This is another such opportunity that we must not waste. We must commit to create a world that is peaceful, nonviolent and one that works for everyone.
But before we embark on the mending of the various broken systems, I believe we have to redeem ourselves of the mistakes we have made in the past several years and the many since 9/11. We have estranged many of our allies. Violence has increased beyond proportions, and we have spent untold amount of money and energy on wars. Such war has caused huge deficits which not only contributed to an unstable financial infrastructure, but also taken money away from worthwhile social programs for children, the elderly and many others. We must atone and redeem ourselves of these acts and repair the damage and then bounce back and once again become the trusted participants on the world stage with our allies and the rest of the world. More so ever than before we are planetary beings and we must address these issues at the planetary level for every being on our planet. We must commit to create a world that is peaceful, nonviolent and one that works for everyone. This we must do or the human race will perish. I do see that we have the possibility of making this happen - we have a leader who understands this - we must do our part. So once again I remind my sisters and brothers what we've heard all along: Yes we can. Let us join hands and let us begin with redemption - show the world that we Americans truly are a good, generous, compassionate, loving and supportive soul who cares about the plight of the entire world. Let us start with redemption, and move ever higher and higher in our future for the good of all. Azim N. Khamisa |

Do You Desire to Learn and Teach the Principles?
On my most recent speaking engagement trip, I met several therapists, teachers and trainers who were interested in offering my forgiveness work to their clients. I would like to know from you to see how many would be interested in learning the forgiveness principles I teach and practice, so you too can do such training. Reply HERE if you have interest in a "train the trainer" type of workshop in 2009. Thank you. |
