Dear Friend,

QUOTE OF THE MONTH

This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.

Rejoice - Become the Dance...

It is the time of the year we all make our New Year's resolutions. Making them is easy, but manifesting them is much harder for us mortal souls. As many of you may know, I am an avid meditator - mymethod (click preamble link) is to meditate three times a day:
  1. Thirty minutes before I go to sleep to process the day.
  2. An hour in the middle of the night between 3 and 6 a.m., to experience that timeless and spaceless reality called "the gap."
  3. Another 30 minutes when I wake up, in order to help manifest the day I would like.
I will not go into too much detail on my meditation method, as this is available for you for free at this web link where I discuss my methodology in detail. Also I provide a free guided meditation on manifesting your vision - if you are so inspired to make this a daily practice. Daily meditation has been the mainstay of my life and has successfully seen me through those difficult and heartbreaking moments that life invariably dishes to all of us.
osho

As I write this I am in Pune, India taking my annual break as I do at this time of the year. I have spent the last two days (too short) at theOsho International Meditation Centre where we meditated for upwards of five hours a day. Osho taught many forms of meditations and many courses to aid one in one's spiritual life. The teachings attract a rich diversity of people from all over the world, all of which inquire into their potential and contributions they want to make in the world.

I found Osho on the recommendation of my first cousin who lives in Pune and has been intimately involved with the Osho Centre for a couple of years enjoying the pursuit of learning about his spiritual wealth. I had originally gone to improve my well-established meditating practice of 30-plus years. But, at his suggestion, I arrived at the centre with an open mind - trusting the universe and spirit. I got several validating confirmations of my meditation practice but the profound breakthrough for me, strangely, was to get in touch with my humanity. Many of us on a spiritual path sometimes forget that we are in the human realm. The tendency for many of us is to either be overly focused on our material life or our spiritual life. What I learned is the importance of integrating both these aspects into one in our daily lives. This is not easy to do - however from Osho's teachings, I learned the importance of rejoicing!

"Meditation is the antidote to all the poisons of life." - Osho

Rejoicing. This is my new favorite word - don't you just love the sound of it? This for me was profound because rejoicing life integrates the spiritual (meditation) and human (dance) aspects of our lives. He teaches that in life it is important to celebrate your life and those upbeat moments. His meditations include music and dance and - as he points out - it's not important to query the various attributes of dancing but to simply dance! It's vital to be a participant in the dance and be integrated into that essence. In other words, we should strive not to be an "ist" - not to be a Buddhist (or any other kind of "ist") but to be a Buddha! He taught that there are as many paths as there are people to God (or enlightenment) and that to achieve sustaining peace and happiness we need to fully integrate our spirituality with our humanness and vice-versa in every moment in our lives.

For me this meant to rejoice more. My pattern is to be very focused and work hard at getting results and then getting on to the next thing. I forget to rejoice enough in life and bring celebration as a daily activity. In essence, I forget to dance and rejoice more! It really opens the spirit as the spirit loves to rejoice and the body loves to move. Movement is its essence. So needless to say I danced a lot at Osho and being there at this festive time of the year it all fitted in perfectly.

So as you look at your resolutions for the New Year, remember that mediation can be a very useful tool to manifest them. Remember your humanness and rejoice and celebrate daily the beautiful gift of life! Do not just dance but become the dance, and you will discover a whole new universe. Thank you cousin and Osho for this realization.

Wishing you all my dear readers and supporters a fabulous 2009 with heartfelt prayers for the manifestation of your goals to make our world a better place: a world that works for everyone especially for our children! God bless.

Many Blessings,
Azim N. Khamisa
