Dear Friend,
The response to my last newsletter - The Importance of Relationships to Achieve Balance and Spiritual Growth - was overwhelming and positive. I do not believe I have had so many responses to a previous newsletter. Thank you all for sharing your innermost insights and for your vulnerability. For a very few of my readers the newsletter triggered some deep-seated issues, and I offer a sincere apology to them. Please know my intentions were honorable. Many others forwarded this newsletter to their friends and family, and I thank you for doing that. I see from the responses that relationship issues are on many minds. I even got a positive loving response from my brother - that was a treat.
I am delving deeply into the inquiry about relationship and will read everything that readers send along. As well, I am reading a book on the subject and hope to write a sequel to my last newsletter in the fall. Stay tuned. Once again thank you from the bottom of my heart for your sharing, and please keep the insights coming. I am very interested in your thoughts, experiences and wisdom.

Three Secrets to Spiritual & Emotional Resiliency During these Challenging Times of Loss
During recent times, many have experienced much loss - for us as a people and a society. The recent home market downfall, the loss of many jobs, the war and the loss of life, and all of the financial woes suffered by so many of us.
We are a fragile creature, some may not consider that. But with the right information and inspiration we can be made resilient. In my most recent book, The Secrets of the Bulletproof Spirit (co-written by Jillian Quinn), a total of 30 secrets were outlined in order to pr ovide the information and inspiration to create what Jillian and I call "spiritual and emotional resiliency."
Spiritually speaking, those people unable to hold the bulletproof spirit accept an identity of victim, and when confronted with a hard knock, will continually ask the question"Why me?"
Those with emotional and spiritual resiliency will respond with:
"Why did I attract this hardship to my life?"
"What wisdom can I garner?"
"What is the Universe trying to give to me as a gift?"
This month's newsletter focuses on three of the 30 secrets to help us all realize our bulletproof spirit. We all have a bulletproof spirit within - we've always had it and we always will. It's only a matter of tapping into that spirit and maintaining it through awareness, will, discipline and practice.
Secret #10 - Avoid Anesthesia
When a hard knock comes along, how many of us want to simply numb out, look the other way, or find a distraction so we can avoid the pain and the hurt? One must deal with any sort of disturbance or issue in order to truly be "done with it." Walking or running away, or turning to TV, drugs, alcohol, etc. will only delay the unavoidable - the valuable lesson and the freedom that comes from facing all of life, the good and the bad.
From the book, here are just a few example substitutes for numbing out:
- Focus on some small things that will calm and center you. Conscious breathing for one.
- Do some exercise such as running, brisk walking, yoga.
- Pray or meditate.
Secret #11 - Bring in the Troops
When the harsh experiences come along, it's important to, as the Beatles once sang, "get a little help from your friends." Spiritually bulletproof people will receive support from close friends, allies, family members, books, and movies in order to get through. Frequently, support groups can be of assistance, since they can offer empathy for your situation. It's important we realize we needn't look good or have it all together, so we can reach out for the assistance when we need it.
Secret #12 - Take Charge of Your Space
When you experience heartbreak, make sure to focus on creating a sacred space for you to deal with your loss. This means the inner and the outer space. Attend to cleanliness and order in your surroundings can assist in the healing process. Cleanliness is next to ... Also a sacred space could include an altar or other spiritual artifacts and trinkets to help uplift the energy in the room. Such an uplift will add to the uplift you are needing for your life, your heart and your hurt.
These are just a few notes from the book The Secrets of the Bulletproof Spirit, which can help you to heal, to thrive and, most importantly, to realize a bulletproof spirit that will keep you centered, safe and whole at all times.
Many Blessings,
Azim N. Khamisa
