The Hero's Journey . . .
Say "Yes" to Your Adventure
You are all part of what mythologist Joseph Campbell labeled "a hero's journey" with you yourself starring in the role as "hero." As you live and grow older, you may realize that your hero's journey is froth with obstacles. And what I have found is there is no REAL learning without these obstacles. The tougher the obstacles, the more profound the learning. So because of this, I strongly suggest - SayYES to your adventure!
 What I have learned in my journey is that I have always been the person that analyzes everything that has happened to me. I am actually quite obsessive about it, as I want to eke out every ounce of wisdom from each experience. I tend to chew every one of my experiences over and over again in the drive to learn from it.
And I have learned much over the years. I have always maintained that "it takes intelligence to convert information into knowledge, but it takes experience to convert knowledge into wisdom." In the last decade, this has served me well. As I have written before, we attract everything that happens to us. It is the Universe's way to introduce us gently to our real purpose. It does not matter whether we are young or old, male or female, rich or poor. We all have a spiritual journey, and whether we like it or not, we will - in the end - have to discover it and live it, no matter how many years, decades or even lifetimes it takes.

They get louder if we do not listen ... I must have been deaf!

I would not be doing the work I am doing now had it not been a result of my son Tariq's tragic death at the age of 20. I did fully surrender to the will of the Universe as I was not able to deal with this in any other way. At this devastating point in my life - even though I thought my life was over - the truth was through my surrender, I was able to make a good choice and discover my true life's purpose. Now I know that Tariq and the Universe gave me the gift of my life's purpose. The work I do today is nourishing, meaningful, fulfilling and a confirmation that I am on my life's purpose. Thank you Tariq for this gift!
I got an overriding, strong and convincing redirection that put me onto this path and into this work. All of us are not so lucky. However - I do believe all of us get gentle clues to gently guide us to our spiritual purpose.
The clues come in our life's hardest hits (See below for the related "Secret" from my latest book). If we are lucky, we get the direction through more gentle hits, but we get these reminders all the time. They get louder if we do not listen. I must have been deaf! Look at your lives and check out what is not working - there is a reason.
These hard hits are "spiritual bullion" and need to be welcome reminders that connect us with our soul's purpose. Truly, that is the foremost reason why we are here - so our souls can learn the lessons we need to learn in order for us to unify with the greatest power in the Universe... to be in Nirvana ... to be in divine union with God however we define that ... to know we are on our path!
Once you have found your path, the Universe is your partner - a Divine Compliment - and nothing is impossible. I know this because I feel strongly that I am on my path. You can too! So say YES to your adventure.
